We have a professional design team and state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. From design, material selection, assembly, to shipping, everything is handled in-house. As a design and manufacturing company,What can we offer?

Perhaps you’re an engineer at an automotive modification shop, or maybe you need to find a new refrigerated box truck body design for a logistics company. This article can provide you with some good directions for refrigerated box truck body design. When designing a refrigerated box truck body, we need to consider temperature stability, appropriate humidity, cost savings, and reliability. To achieve these goals, we approach the design from multiple angles.

Modern fiberglass foam panels

Fiberglass foam panels are the primary material for refrigerated trucks. Using them, we can design perfect refrigerated trucks. Regardless of the design drawings you provide, FRP foam panels can be easily customized. This material has absolute advantages. Not only in performance but also in thermal efficiency and durability, it outperforms traditional steel and aluminum materials.

It has extremely low thermal conductivity and excellent waterproof and moisture-resistant properties. It does not rust or corrode. If steel is used, it is prone to corrosion, which can affect both appearance and performance. Fiberglass foam panels help maintain a stable internal temperature in the cargo compartment, reducing the energy consumption of the refrigeration system. This results in cost savings, with fuel or electricity consumption reduced by up to 20-30% depending on operational conditions.

Modular Design Insulated Truck Body1

This composite material’s most notable feature is its lightweight nature. Choosing it is one of the core elements of modern refrigerated vehicle design. It reduces total weight and improves form efficiency, making it ideal for modern high-efficiency trucks.

Diverse design: The fiberglass outer layer is high-performance, multifunctional, and customizable. FRP panels have extremely low thermal conductivity—typically between 0.2 and 0.3 W/m·K.Its density is as low as 1.5–2.0 g/cm³, significantly lower than steel (7.8 g/cm³) or aluminum (2.7 g/cm³). The skin can be customized to a thickness of 0.5–5 cm. It is a thermosetting sheet. We also offer thermoplastic continuous fibers as an option.

Excellent insulation system

An excellent refrigerated vehicle body must have excellent insulation performance.Although we do not manufacture refrigeration units, we have made breakthroughs in materials. We continuously optimize the structure of composite foam panels. Using rigid insulation foam exceeding 20 mm thickness enhances insulation performance. Combining PU and XPS, fiberglass provides protective performance. XPS foam offers highly efficient waterproofing. PU delivers exceptional insulation performance.

We spare no effort to elevate insulation performance to the next level.

Dimension Design

The dimensions of the refrigerated box truck body depend on the length of the truck chassis. We offer composite panels up to 11.8 meters in length. This means that we can also manufacture large refrigerated trucks. However, this depends on the length of the shipping container.

We offer small refrigerated trucks, medium refrigerated trucks, refrigerated semi-trailers, trailer bodies, etc., including refrigerated trailers. We are very familiar with every size. They are generally used for various applications, such as local delivery, long-distance transportation, vegetable transportation, pallet transportation, and more.

Suitable for various applications

In addition to standard refrigerated truck body design and manufacturing, we also design specialized refrigerated trucks for long-term use in various industries. Different industries have different requirements for refrigerated trucks.

We offer meat refrigerated trucks, ice cream refrigerated trucks, seafood refrigerated trucks, pharmaceutical refrigerated trucks, flower refrigerated trucks, ice block refrigerated trucks, and more.

We design customized features based on your specific requirements and provide additional transportation kits, such as meat hooks and temperature control systems, to meet all your needs.

Customization Options

A refrigerated truck body. In addition to composite material frames and structures, we offer various kits, such as floors (including diamond-patterned anti-slip floors and waterproof floors), composite side doors and rear doors (single or double), and can be equipped with roll-up doors or swing doors. We provide hinges, door frames, partitions, kick plates, safety lights, door locks, E-tracks, subframes, curtains, bumper rubber blocks, refrigeration components, and bumpers.

More importantly, our accessories are perfectly compatible with all refrigerated trucks. We have the capability to produce composite doors and other accessories. We can design excellent products that meet your specifications and resolve any issues promptly.

Customized multi-temperature zones for refrigerated trucks

We offer multi-temperature zone designs with high-quality partitions. Our multi-temperature refrigerated trucks are highly popular. Multi-temperature zones enhance economic efficiency, maximize benefits, and are an excellent practical solution.

Multi-temperature zones enable simultaneous operation of multiple temperature zones. They can achieve freezing, refrigeration, and insulation. They can even be used for transporting ambient-temperature goods.

Modular Design

Our refrigerated truck bodies are modularly designed, offering the advantage of easy installation and transportation. Modular refrigerated truck bodies are suitable for all truck modification plants and logistics facilities. They allow for the assembly of a fully functional refrigerated truck in less time. We offer CKD, SKD, and CBU options. Assembly can be completed by just two people in as little as three hours, as simple as building with blocks.

Structure and Sealing:

Currently, refrigerated truck bodies employ multi-layer structural designs. The interior requires smooth surfaces for easy cleaning, while the exterior uses weather-resistant materials to prevent UV damage and wear. The insulation layer utilizes polyurethane foam to ensure low thermal conductivity and waterproof performance.

The ease of installation for refrigerated truck bodies is also a cost-consideration factor. Integrated modular refrigerated bodies are highly popular, as their modular design enables rapid installation by anyone, significantly saving time and costs.

Material Selection

Refrigerated vehicle design relies heavily on composite materials and high-performance lightweight materials. Long-term durability necessitates corrosion resistance and anti-aging properties. Therefore, FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) skins are the optimal choice for the outer layer, while CFRT (Continuous Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic) panels are used internally. This configuration delivers impact-resistant exteriors, smooth, easy-to-clean interiors, and meets the requirements for transporting food, seafood, and agricultural products.

Insulation and Refrigeration

Using insulating foam as the thermal barrier is the optimal choice and standard practice for most refrigerated vehicles. Beyond polyurethane, XPS foam serves as an excellent insulator. Its closed-cell structure provides superior thermal retention and outstanding waterproofing properties.

Refrigeration unit selection requires optimization based on temperature range, cargo type, and load fluctuations. Commonly used are compressor-based refrigeration units paired with automatic temperature control systems to achieve gradient temperature regulation. For power sources, vehicles typically rely on diesel engines or are transitioning toward electrification. If equipped with onboard batteries, focus should be placed on capacity management, capacity reduction at low temperatures, and charging/discharging efficiency. Sensing and control systems monitor parameters like temperature, humidity, and pressure, featuring data logging and remote monitoring capabilities to facilitate cold chain traceability.

Reasonable Safety Regulations

Load distribution must be balanced to prevent front/rear imbalance affecting vehicle dynamics. Refrigeration systems require safety valves, leak detection, and power failure protection to prevent energy waste and potential hazards. Design should include maintenance access and utilize easily replaceable components to ensure long-term operational reliability. Compliance with local cold chain transportation regulations for labeling and documentation is also required to facilitate inspections and traceability.
