Polyurethane is the best insulating foam of almost all rigid foams, not only does it have a low thermal conductivity, but it also prevents heat transfer. Its closed cell structure gives it good insulation properties. It is very suitable for refrigerated truck bodies, refrigerated houses, building insulation and so on.

The R-value (thermal resistance) of polyurethane panels typically ranges from 3.5 to 8.0 (ft²/°F/h/Btu). the R-value varies greatly depending on the density of the polyurethane, as well as the dimensions and the production process.

Polyurethane insulating panels have a service life of 20 years and more if used in a favorable environment. If it is used for a long time in a harsh environment, with strong acids and alkalis, its life expectancy will be very fast.

The thickness of our polyurethane foam is about 2 to 140mm, depending on the strength and insulation effect actually required. The thicker the thickness, the better the insulation and the better the impact resistance, however, it increases the weight and the cost.

Performance

Polyurethane: lower thermal conductivity, better thermal insulation; higher mechanical strength, can withstand a certain pressure and impact; has a good closed-cell structure, waterproof performance is superior.
Polystyrene: divided into expanded polystyrene (EPS) and extruded polystyrene (XPS), EPS insulation performance is better, the price is relatively low, but the strength is a little worse; XPS has a high compressive strength and good thermal insulation performance, but its thermal conductivity is slightly higher than polyurethane.

Environmental protection

Polyurethane: In the process of production and use, if no harmful substances are added, its environmental performance is good. Some high-quality polyurethane insulation materials meet the relevant environmental standards.
Polystyrene: chemically stable, but there are some difficulties in recycling and disposal, and the waste polystyrene may cause white pollution to the environment.

Price

Polyurethane: Generally speaking, the price of polyurethane insulation is relatively high, which is mainly due to its production process and raw material costs.
Polystyrene: the price is relatively low, especially for EPS, which has a certain price advantage in some cost-sensitive projects.
